CUPERTINO, CALIFORNIA / RankWire.AI / – Apple has unveiled the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, featuring a camera with adjustable aperture, enhanced battery life, and the latest A20 Pro chip. These flagship devices also introduce manual camera controls and a redesigned Dynamic Island interface. Both models operate on iOS 27 and support Siri AI powered by Apple Intelligence. Preorders will begin on September 12, with products becoming available starting September 18 in more than 65 countries and regions.

The 48-megapixel Fusion Main camera now provides users with the option to select from four different aperture settings. Six laser-cut blades regulate the opening to control depth of field and light intake. Users can also adjust shutter speed and white balance directly within the Camera app. New Pro controls include a histogram to monitor exposure levels. Video capabilities feature Cinematic effects at up to 60 frames per second after capture, and time-lapse recordings now support 4K resolution with Dolby Vision HDR.
An additional feature, Reference Image, records signed sensor data when users activate Reference mode. Private Cloud Compute then processes this data into a reference image for comparison within the Photos app. This functionality aims to assist users in verifying whether an image has changed after capturing. Support for SynthID will be introduced via a software update later this year. Greg Joswiak, senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing, stated that the new lineup enhances camera, performance, battery life, and intelligence capabilities.
The updated camera system offers more advanced manual controls
The A20 Pro chip is built using a 2-nanometer manufacturing process, featuring a six-core CPU paired with a seven-core GPU. It also includes a Dual 16-core Neural Engine with a total of 32 cores. According to Apple, the GPU performs up to 40% faster than the A19 Pro. A redesigned vapor chamber increases the cooling surface area, working alongside upgraded chip packaging to sustain higher performance levels during intensive tasks.
Battery life improves across both Pro variants, with the most significant gains seen on eSIM-only models. The iPhone 18 Pro offers up to 36 hours of video playback, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max extends that duration to 45 hours. Wired charging can bring the battery to 50% in approximately 15 minutes. Markets including Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE will see the launch of eSIM-only versions, alongside several countries outside the Middle East.
Siri AI expands with Apple Intelligence on iOS 27
Preloaded with iOS 27, the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max gain access to the latest Apple Intelligence features. Siri AI enters beta on September 14, initially supporting English on compatible devices. Support for French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish is scheduled for October. Siri AI can utilize data from messages, emails, and photos when users request information. It is also capable of responding to content displayed on the screen and assisting with tasks through the Camera app.
Pricing for the iPhone 18 Pro starts at $1,199 in the United States, with the Pro Max beginning at $1,299. Customers can choose storage capacities of 256GB, 512GB, 1TB, or 2TB. Color options include black, silver, glacier, and burgundy. Preorders open at 5 a.m. Pacific Time on September 12, with sales beginning on September 18 in the initial markets. An additional 20 countries and regions will receive the iPhone 18 Pro lineup starting September 25.
